Sam has heard some awful things from his mom, things that made me wince when he told me. His mother seems to have morphed from his emotional pillar into a hateful, fearful and angry person he no longer recognizes. This is the power of a cult, of brainwashing and of being emotionally attached to ideas so much that you dismiss the facts. Sam is tired and exhausted and grieving the woman who made his childhood great, despite the fact that she’s still here.
