Mark your calendars and clear your schedules! This Saturday, April 5th, a planned action called Hands Off is happening nationwide to stop Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s brazen power grab. It’s going to be a massive network of events that I’m sure many supporters of the AHA are already registered for. I’ll be taking to the streets of Milwaukee on Saturday to join my voice in the protest chorus.

What You Can Do:

Share the event with your peers to attend in a personal capacity and coordinate as a group for safety.
Show up as humanists! Wear your AHA or chapter T-shirts, bring values-based signs, and engage with the community. We are launching a new online store soon for future gear options–got a cool idea for a shirt? Let us know!
Post about it on social media using language centered on humanist values: our democracy and freedoms are under attack, let’s tell them HANDS OFF!
Normally we would encourage taking photos and sharing those on social media, however we want to urge a bit of caution as we’re seeing immigrants getting detained, deported, and imprisoned for posting on social media. Take photos of signs and be careful and thoughtful about what is shared on social media, and make sure you get consent before posting anyone’s face!

Stay Safe! Plan with your group for a safe meetup spot and stay together. Tensions are high and this event has the potential to make a big splash. That means safety and group planning are even more important than it is at a smaller event.

Let’s keep building a world where reason, compassion, and dignity lead the way.
